Optical Communications

LusoSpace has been working in optical communications since 2008. Besides a laser head for space optical communications between s/c and ground stations that has been developed in cooperation with Thales Alenia Space, other optical communications equipments are being developed.

Currently, a low-profile optical head prototype is being developed to be used in a laser optical communication system intended for commercial aircraft. This terminal will communicate with satellites and will allow passengers on the aircraft to browse the internet and even make a video call.
