Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer

The role of the Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer is to contribute to the development of existing products and to design completely new solutions, mostly to be integrated into LusoSpace’s highly challenging optomechanical projects in the space sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop mechanical designs (including for optomechanical applications) from concept to manufacture and integration;
  • Translate product requirements into specific loading scenarios or design constraints;
  • Create design maturity and integrity reports based on detailed hand calculations or FE analyses, with varied levels of technical detail;
  • Contribute to and improve design quality, development best-practices and analysis methodologies, through internal process development, application and evaluation.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo);
  • Knowledge of fine-adjustment mechanical assemblies or space systems
  • Experience with optomechanical design is highly valued;
  • Experience with dimensioning gears, bearings, fasteners, electrical motors, or structural components (preferential);
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the use of FEA tools in structural and thermal analyses (ANSYS Mechanical is valued);
  • Experience in the development and design of products through the full life cycle from requirements definition to manufacturing, acceptance, and delivery to the customer;
  • Rigorous application of analytical methods when solving design problems;
  • Advanced writing and speaking skills in English for technical and non-technical report preparation and presentation;
