Optical Engineer

The Optical Engineer will join a multidisciplinary engineering team and contribute to the development of optical systems for space and ground applications, as well as to proposal preparation activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop optical models and perform detailed optical analyses
  • Contribute to the optical design and optimization of optical systems (refractive and reflective)
  • Perform optical tolerance analysis to assess system performance robustness
  • Support optical integration, alignment, and verification/testing activities
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation and reports
  • Provide technical contributions to proposal preparation, including feasibility assessments and design inputs

Qualification & Experience:

  • BSc in Physics Engineering or a related field (MSc preferred, PhD welcomed)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in optical engineering
  • Strong background in geometrical optics, including ray tracing and radiometric analysis
  • Knowledge of optical design principles for refractive and reflective systems
  • Experience performing optical tolerance analysis and sensitivity studies
  • Experience with optical design and ray-tracing tools (e.g., Zemax or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of optical alignment techniques and optical metrology methods
  • Practical laboratory experience in optical assembly, alignment, testing, and measurement is a plus
  • Willingness to perform hands-on work and support off-site alignment campaigns

  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken, in English
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce clear, structured, and high-quality technical documentation
