Optical AIT Engineer

The Optical AIT Engineer will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to both the design and Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) of optical systems for space and ground applications, as well as to proposal preparation activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support optical design and analysis activities, including modelling and performance evaluation
  • Support the development and implementation of optical alignment and test procedures
  • Assist in the selection and procurement of optical measurement equipment, including interaction with suppliers
  • Participate in optical integration, alignment, and testing activities cleanroom environments
  • Perform alignment activities using optical metrology equipment (e.g. theodolites, autocollimators, laser trackers, interferometers, wavefront sensors)
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and test documentation
  • Provide support to proposal activities, including technical inputs

Qualification & Experience:

  • BSc in Physics Engineering, or similar (Ms preferred, PhD welcomed)
  • Previous professional experience in this area is considered a plus
  • Basic understanding of optics, including ray tracing and radiometric principles
  • Familiarity with optical design and ray-tracing tools (e.g. Zemax or equivalent) is an advantage
  • Practical laboratory experience in optical assembly, testing, and measurement is considered a plus
  • Willingness to perform hands-on activities and to support off-site AIT campaigns

  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken, in English
  • Strong motivation to develop both analytical (design) and practical (AIT) skills
  • Attention to detail and a structured approach to technical work
  • Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation
