Electronics Engineer -Optical Link
Role Overview
We are looking for a Optoelectronics / Hardware Engineer for the development of the analog, optical, and digital circuits for our Optical Communication Head. In this role, you will design the critical front-end circuitry that emits and detects light, as well as the high-speed digital backbone that interfaces directly with our FPGA and to the host computer. You will be responsible for translating weak optical signals into clean digital data, and driving laser diodes with extreme precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiver Path Design (Light Detection): Design low-noise, high-bandwidth receiver circuits using Photodiodes (PIN or APD) and Transimpedance Amplifiers (TIAs).
- Transmitter Path Design (Light Emission): Design and optimize laser diode driver circuits, handling modulation (e.g., direct or external modulation) while managing thermal stability .
- High-Speed Digital Circuitry: Architect the PCB layout surrounding the FPGA, memories, power distribution , optical communication circuitry and external interfaces.
- Electro-Optical Integration: Collaborate closely with mechanical and optical teams to ensure precise alignment of optical components with the PCB (sensors, lenses, fiber-coupling).
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Telecommunications Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Master’s degree is a plus.
Required Skills
- Analog & RF Circuit Design: Deep understanding of high-frequency analog design, noise analysis (SNR, NEP), and impedance matching.
- Optoelectronics Expertise: Hands-on experience working with Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs), Quadrant Photodiodes (QPDs), Laser Diodes, and optical transceivers.
- PCB Design Tools: Altium Designer
- Lab Skills: Expert use oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers (OSAs) and network analyzers.
